Unlocking Design Success: The Symbiosis of the Psychology of Money and UI/UX

Have you ever wondered how the psychology of money intertwines with UI/UX design? Let’s explore this fascinating connection and unveil the keys to design success! (Disclaimer: It’s all about my thinking; if it is not related to UI/UX, excuse me it is my blog.)
Quote 01: “The most important part of every plan is planning for your plan not going according to plan.”
Think of it like this: in the corporate world, it’s almost impossible to make everyone 100% happy with your work. When you try something new or different, it might not always fit the original plan. So, it’s like having a backup plan in your back pocket for when things don’t go as expected.
Quote 02: “Financial success is not a hard science. It’s a soft skill, where how you behave is more important than what you know.”
In our world of UX design, it’s not about hard and fast rules; it’s more like understanding how users feel and act, which is even more critical than the textbooks.
Quote 03: “But realize that not all success is due to hard work, and not all poverty is due to laziness.”
Many of us, especially newbie designers, tend to think that designing is all about creating beautiful stuff with fancy animations. But remember, Visual design is only about 20% of what we do. We’re mainly problem solvers, so it’s smarter to invest time in research and use tools like Material3 to make our UI references for more effective (just a heads-up, it depends on the project and audience).
Quote 04: “The hardest financial skill is getting the goalpost to stop moving.”
Have you ever tried fixing one thing, but it feels like more problems keep popping up? It’s a bit like going down a never-ending staircase! Sometimes, it’s a good idea to set some boundaries to keep things simple, but remember, the most important issue should be addressed first, and the rest is extra
Quote 05: “Happiness, as it’s said, is just results minus expectations.”
For us UI/UX designers, happiness cannot be found when our design crossed the development stage we should manage our expectations and keep doing the same, just like Wile E. Coyote trying to catch the Road Runner.
Quote 06: “Enough is realizing that the opposite — an insatiable appetite for more — will push you to the point of regret.”
You know how every day after you design a particular UI you might think, “I can make this UI even better”? Well, don’t be a greedy designer. Recognize when it’s time to say, “That’s enough.”
Quote 07: “You don’t need tremendous force to create tremendous results.”
Sometimes we over complicate things, thinking we need to put in all this effort to make something great. But often, simple solutions work like magic. (Hint: We’ve got ChatGPT to help us simplify!)
Quote 08: “The point is that what seem like small changes in growth assumptions can lead to ridiculous, impractical numbers.”
Small changes in the world of UX can have a huge impact. Take Amazon’s “More Buying Choices” button, for instance. It’s like adding a tiny button below “Buy” that shows users other buying options. Small change, big results!
In the dynamic intersection of the Psychology of Money and UI/UX design, success lies in adaptability, understanding, and recognizing the power of simplicity. By embracing these principles, designers can unlock the full potential of their creations.
